Bathroom lighting
The maid is knocking on the door for the third time – but you still do not want to get out? That means hotel management did everything right. Because there is probably no more relaxing place than the bathroom if the design and lighting concept work together.
Yet we do not just want to soak in a romantic foam bath here. We also want to precisely apply eyeliner. Flexibility is therefore required when it comes to lighting. The most important rule here is to pay attention to bright light during the day, but to subdued light in the evening and at night. Therefore, it is best to have a few dimmers.
This is how you do it
Do's and Dont's in bathroom lighting
Pay attention to the different zones in the bathroom. Safety is paramount in wet rooms. That is why bathrooms are divided into different zones. Only use lighting in the bathroom that meets the appropriate IP protection classification. In bathrooms, the water resistance of luminaires should be considered depending on the area in which the luminaire is installed. Therefore, pay attention to the IP value of the lamp.
Provide diffuse lighting around the mirror. This avoids shadows on the face. Spots above the mirror cast too much shadow on your face.
Provide a separate light source in the shower. Avoid spots directly above the bathtub. You may be blinded while bathing because you are looking at the ceiling. Do not place lights directly above the shower head. This creates unwanted shadows and reflections on the ceiling.
Think of the Layers of Light. In addition to diffuse lighting, you can also set atmospheric accents. Indirect light makes the bathroom much more comfortable and ensures relaxing moments.
Do not use just one circuit. For example, if you have a toilet in your bathroom, connect a light point to a separate circuit for night lighting so that you can go to the toilet at night without accidents.
